level)
CALORIES:
I keep track but I do not actively restrict them.

water water water water water By 1030 I decided to try to eat something, and
had 2 fried eggs, 1 oz. pre-cooked bacon (available from Sam's Club and I
just LOVE it!! soooo easy and quick, 45 seconds in the microwave and none of
the grease to deal with) 1 slice toasted Oroweat Lite bread with butter.
-
L:
By 12:30 I improved enough to try some coffee, just half my usual amount
though. And then I ate 1 peanut nirvana.
-
D:
Roasted turkey with notstarch gravy and a small salad with tlc ranch
dressing

Bit low on protein. Gained a half pound back, somehow, in spite of the
numbers, which look great.

BR:
Coffee and 1 Atkins mocha crunch bar on the way to see our insurance agent.
We are now officially in business with Flat Tops Elec. and have liability
and worker's comp ins. THAT took forever.
-
Shorty
after I got home, the school called and I had to go pick up Matt, sick - so
much for getting back to work uninterrupted and rejoicing about school
starting back up....
-
L:
Nachos!! Took 1 bag Lean Protein Chips and added 1/3 cup sharp shredded
cheddar, 1/3 cup leftover taco meat, 2 Tb. salsa and 2 Tb. sour cream.
Mmmmmmmm.
-
D:
TLC Green Chilli made with the turkey carcas and some of the leftover meat.
I froze half of that montrously big cooked bird and I still have
a ton of meat to deal with... but since I got the bird free at Thanksgiving
time, I can hardly bitch.

Back down the half pound. These numbers are almost PERFECT, and I had hoped

complain out loud.

8am Coffee - I intended to eat, I just never got around to it! :(
-
L:
1215PM A salad bigger than my head: 2 cups Romaine with 3 slices chopped
cooked bacon, 3 oz. roasted cold turkey, 1 HB egg, red pepper, tomato, red
onion (livin' large today! onion oh my!) and tlc Ranch
-
SN:
toasted walnuts and hazelnuts - Mmmm! What 5 minutes at 350 F can DO, WOW!

Down a half pound. I had expected a gain! Hmmmm. Maybe I should try upping
my carbs and fat more often, but if I did it on a regular basis it would
backfire, I'm sure. I think mixing things up regularly may be a good idea
though. My cholesterol can't afford all the OIAB very often anyway... I
wonder what all that fiber is going to do.
-
Well,
my day wound up going like this:
-
BR:
8AM Coffee w/ cream and then an Atkins mocha crunch bar on the way to the
ortho with the big kid and the dr. with the littler kid.
-
L:
didn't happen till 2pm - one Mountain oat wrap filled with homemade turkey
salad
-
SN:
nuked some pepperoni chips about 4pm and made instant OIAB
-
D:
620PM - another Mtn oat wrap filled w/ plain turkey, half an avacado, TLC
Red Ancho Chili Paste, smothered in TLC green chili with a dollop of sour
cream on top. Oh! And a Miller Lite, of course, with either pseudo or real
Mexican food, I must have a beer. Then while sitting here cruising the
boards I ate half a Carbolite white chocolate bar. I like the dark ones
best, still...

SN:
3 Coconut Dream muffins (a new completely grain and soy free recipe in the
making - no coconut next time) and 3 slices TLC Hearty Brown Bread - still
working on the breads, this one is almost ready!!! and has only 1 carb per
thin slice!

8AM Coffee w/ cream, 2 fried eggs, 1 oz. pre-cooked bacon, 1 slice toasted
Oroweat with butter
-
L:
1230pm - plain turkey nuked with cheese, topped with red onion, fresh
cilantro, salsa, and sour cream.
-
D:
620PM - Here is where TOM became a factor, I think. (1) 5 oz. chix breast in
George, 1 cup TLC coleslaw. After, the munchies struck! Instant OIAB made
with diet Swiss Miss, followed by 1 slice toasted Hearty TLC Bread with PB,
then a whole Carbolite dark chocolate bar. Oy. 65% of my claories for the
day came after 8PM - not good! But MUCH better than a cheat, I figure.

8AM Coffee w/ cream, 2 thin slices of my hearty quick bread, toasted, with
peanut butter
-
L:
1230pm - Omelette made with 2 eggs, ham, cheese, onion and gr. pepper
-
SN:
Baking for my "high carb" cooking column and my next LC book at
the same time! Chocolate cake for the kids and LC version for us, as
cupcakes, so I could tell the difference - and I really did have trouble
telling them apart. Even the kids said that ours were just as good,
Eureka! So, 1 taste of regular high carb choco cake, and.... SIX, yes,
I said six TLC Deep Dark cupcakes ....yup ....one ......two .......three
......four ........five ........SIX! OMG. At 4 carbs each. I could blame the
pain pills, I guess, at this point I had already taken 4 percodans for the
day, but mostly I just enjoyed them, as they are damn good.
-
D:
6PM - 1 small glass white wine and about 5 oz. pan fried venison, a small
salad with TLC ranch. Nothing else, since I passed out before
narcotic-induced munchies could strike again.

Up just another half pound. 2.5 altogether since TOM struck, that's about
par, actually. And my numbers aren't really all that bad, and the saturated
fat component is wonderful, in fact. Half as many cupcakes and it would have
been a banner day, LOL.
-
BR:
8AM Coffee w/ cream, 1 choco cupcake (she returns to the "scene of the
crime"!! but walks away after ONE, this time.)
-
L:
1pm - 3 slices (oz) of ham wrapped around 3 oz cheese, 1 srv. instant OIAB
-
D:
6PM - 9 oz. boneless pork chops and 1.5 cups pan-browned sauerkraut. Offered
my son mashed potatoes and HE OPTED FOR SAUERKRAUT instead - OMG! They
really do learn by example and even their tastes have changed
dramatically.... wonders will never cease. Really, it gratifies me to see my
kids making "smarter" choices all on their own. It is not that
they do not eat candy anymore EVER, it is just that gradually they are
leaning toward "my" way of eating more and more these days, and I
know that later in life if they do have to struggle with weight gain, they
WILL know what to do about it. I could die tomorrow and I would have
accomplished that much, at least. And I am really proud of my column that I
wrote today for this week, I printed a lightened up chocolate cake recipe
for "those watching their fat intake" and my chocolate snack cake
recipe "for those watching their carbohydrate intake - including
me!" and I mentioned this AFTER saying that I have lost over 60 pounds
in the last year... trying to walk a fine line between the high carb columns
that I provided as examples when they gave me this job, and the low carb
columns that I now WANT to write ... So far, so good, I got my first check,
for December, with no comments at all, either way.. Just call me the
Ambassador of LC Goodwill in the Rockies! :)

Down a full pound, and in spite of this menu! - TOM is leaving the building
- yahoo! Now if it would just SNOW so I could go skiing, I would be happy. I
drove 150 miles 1 way down there to go to Sam's through crappy slushy snow,
yet it never reached Vail, apparently! Darn it. On the way home I had to
deal with TWO jerk offs who thought their hurry was important enough to risk
MY life, Gawd, I hate that, it is not like I was not already speeding and
stuck behind other slow pokes, what do they A-Holes gain by passing me and
then forcing their way in front of me - they were still behind the slow
poke, and all they accomplished was to piss me off so bad that I actually
tailgated one of them with my lights flashing (and in the "double
bird" position) and my horn blaring for almost a mile. That CAN'T be
good for a person's blood pressure, OR their karma! Then my windshiled
washer fluid ran out and I had to start reaching around out the window and
throwing my drinking water on the windshield just so I could make it home.
Yeech! Glad I spent all of my money and won't have to do this again anytime
soon! Meanwhile, we are STOCKED UP with all our favorite LC goodies. And 5
pounds of shredded cheese that I must give away - 9 carbs per 1/4 cup thanks
to the fact that they added "CELLULOSE to prevent caking" - they
say there are 6 g fiber in the 9 carbs, but I will not eat it, anyway.
ALWAYS read labels, is the lesson, I thought I had already read all the Sams
labels but then again, they are always getting in different stuff, never
assume just because it is "shredded mild cheddar" that it is OK to
eat! In this case,
it
was NOT.
-
BR:
8AM Coffee w/ cream, 1 Keto-Bar - been along time since I had these, and I
still like them a lot
-
L:
1230pm - 4 sausage patties, 2 fried eggs, 1 ASpen Ice Cream LC bagel with PB
- and I ate both halves for the first time! So let's see what the scale
does...
-
SN:
430PM - 1 oz. pistachios in the shell

spent most of yesterday lying down. It is a bit better today but still
pretty painful. Just my luck, it will probably dump 6 inches of snow on the
mountain today... and if it does I will find a way to ski even with the
pain!!! Come on... SNOW .......SNOW .......SNOW.......SNOW! (chanting)

BR:
8AM Coffee w/ cream, Keto Crisp cereal with Keto Milk - thumbs up on the
milk, but the cereal has that NASTY soy taste, I'll have to use it up in
chocolate crunch bars! Yeech, and way expensive, too. But the milk, now -
very expensive and at least worth the $, it's pretty great after a year
using only watered down heavy cream. If you miss cereal, get the Nutlette
cereal from netrition and the Keto-milk to go over it from life services and
you'll be all set!
-
L:
1230pm - 2 sausage patties, with a slice of cheese melted over top, and an
Atkins shake doctored up with DaVinci syrups and heavy cream
-
D:
6PM -- Mexican food! Seasoned ground beef with my Red Ancho chili sauce, in
a Mountain wheat (wholemeal) wrap with TLC picante, shredded cheese, sour
cream, then nachos: a bag of lean portein chips with the same toppings. I
guess this answers the wheat mountain wrap questions, we were questioning
the labels since the old ones read 15 g carb per and only 1 g fiber but the
company says they net out to 6. I will count them as 6, no way they are 15
and I still lost..... Afterwards I made a HUGE bowl of instant OIAB.

"they" recommend for any diet, and yet - 4.5 down!! I did take a
total of 4 Microhydrin yesterday and drink an extra pot of coffee. And went
through most of a box of tissue blowing my nose, BUT....... methinks I will
drink lots of coffee and take lots of Microhydrin again today and see what
happens.... DH thinks I shouldn't post all my loss since I will be
disappointed if any comes back, but THIS IS HISTORY and I am posting it all,
like I always do. Now on the countdown to the ONE's..................
WOW!!!!

Official
stats are now: 271 size 24/ 205.5 size 14!/ 180 size 10?12? (Since they

On
the up side, I noticed that my big toenails, which were starting to resemble
my father's at this time last year (thick and yellow, ugh) are now thin and
clear again, like they were when I was a teen. Either LC or all the jacuzzis
when I was treating my leg infection, caused them to clear up... whatever it

Skipped my coffee! Can you even believe it? No appetite at all - I did make

some cheese - ate half of it with maybe 2 Tb. picante over the top. Also
drank an entire 32 oz. grapefruit flavored sparkling water with 4 carbs
-

230pm - Made a salad with romaine, grape tomatoes and ranch, heated up rest
of omelette, ate maybe half of each thing, threw rest away. Then toasted one
slice of Oroweat bread and put both butter and regular peanut butter on it -
managed to eat all of that with half of a diet ice botanical. I want juice!
Have a gallon of OJ in the fridge for the kids but so far I have managed to
ignore it.
-
D:
6PM -- Crock pot pot roast with Lc gravy and mashed turnips - found
appetite! Ate 5-6 oz. meat, scant half cup turnips, maybe 1/2 cup gravy.

Drank enough water today. Took no additional supplements. Did take a muscle

EATING ENOUGH - for me, it spells disaster. If ever I am in a famine, I will
have one hell of an advantage over the "normal" person, that much
I am sure about. :) Probably didn't help that I ate all this stuff mostly in
the evening.... Now that my appetite is back, I will lose this gain, I am
sure. I am craving orange juice and I am thinking about eating an entire
orange for breakfast instead, and see what happens. Half an orange would be
allowable in my normal carb counts, so I may stop there. Depends on the
degree of rapture that comes from eating the first half, I haven't had one
in a whole year!!

Okay, I am really pissed. Up 2 full pounds, I have managed to put back on
all but 1 pound of my record whoosh! Probably all my own fault, I did not
eat breakfast for three days running, and how many times have I said/written
that that always makes me gain?! DUH!!! And I do not think eating the whole
orange was good. I ate it alone, and ate nothing else for almost 2 hours, I
do believe that is the sugarbuster rule, but it didn't seem to help ME! I
haven't been able to work out for a long time, between my back and my cold,

6PM - Roasted chicken, lots of it! Mmm, it was good, I injected it with Baja

it was just plain moist and good. I should have eaten more though because
after dinner I had a bowl of OIAB II and then it was like I couldn't stop. I
ate 3 more servings. I know that down deep though, i was just pissed about
gaining for no reason and also there have been times that when I overate a

could hardly be upset, right?

Okay, I am REALLY pissed. I am up a pound and a half from yesterday. WHAT
GIVES????? I eat too little and I gain weight. So I eat way too much - and I
gain weight. So I eat normally and I STILL GAIN WEIGHT. I skiied all day -
according to Lifeform 5 hrs downhill skiiing equals almost 1400 extra
calories burned. Arrrrrrrrrgh! Seems like these things come in waves - first
I was losing like crazy no matter what I did. Now the tide has reversed and
no matter WHAT I do, I gain... At this rate I don't know WHAT will happen in
a week's time.... OK. No more OIAB for a while. No more sodas, in fact no
DaVinci syrup and nothing sweet tasting AT ALL. I am supposed to go skiing
with my girlfriend today so I will work twice as hard as yesterday at least.
Then I promised to take the kids again tomorrow. 3 days in a row ought to do
something good, one would hope. It will hard not to decide to get drunk
tonight, so far that seems to be the one thing that removes a couple pounds
every time. Trying to remember how very bad I felt New Year's, I think I
said it wasn't worth it!! But I have gained 6 pounds in 6 days and it just
doesn't seem fair! NO FAIR NO FAIR NO FAIR.

nail for every %&*$( ounce!!
-
I
am approaching my one year anniversary and am actually far from goal, size
14 or no ... I have gained back all but ONE pound of my record whoosh and
the numbers ARE NO DIFFERENT than before I suddenly lost it - and it stayed
gone for several days, so it wasn't some flukey dehydration thing.
-
I
know one thing. I have only made it this far because the worst cheat I have
done in 11 and a half months was ONE DARN ORANGE yesterday!! You have to
really want this bad enough to tough it out. Believe that you are more
stubborn than either genetics or metabolism. Give the Murphy Fairy a great
big raspberry and just keep on keepin on.
-
You
might not lose another ounce for a whole month. I didn't!! But if you are
ornery enough to persevere through a very efficient body's sabotage, YOU
WILL TRIUMPH.
-
If
you keep doing what you are supposed to be doing, EVENTUALLY it will work. I
promise. But the yo-yo thing has got to stop. You owe it to yourself not to
do that to yourself. Especially if you are like me and have that body that
gains weight when you restrict and fights losing anything as hard as it can.
We'll be the last ones standing in any famine, but of course that's small
consolation when you are frustrated, as I am today, too.
-
My
answer to date has been to get really really pissed off and vent that anger
through exercise. I did my full workout today plus 400 crunches with leg
weights on, fetal position, and I am still ready to tear someone's head off
and crap in their neck.
-
BUT
- eating carbs is not going to help the situation, it will only make it
worse. You KNOW THAT, so hang tough with me, girl. We can do it. No one ever
said life would be easy. Getting to your goals is never easy. It is hard.
Damn hard. But it is always worth the effort and things that come too easy
are sometimes not appreciated. Many many of the people who apparently lost
so easily, even when they cheated, and who started at the same time as I
did, are no longer around. Many of them have come back to say that they have
gained everything back and then some. I will be damned if I ever gain this
weight back. We have the tools now. We know how to lose weight and not be
hungry. Why would you want to eat carbs, feel like crap, and gain weight?
JUST SAY NO!!!
-
God,
I am annoying!! But it is all true, so I'll try to keep keepin' on
anyway.....

Skiing
Beaver
Creek all day with 3 kids in the very cold weather. That's 3 days in a row,

All 3 kids were moaning and groaning and I am just FINE. HA!!!! (The kids
did not go the day before.)

again, for anything. *shaking my head in disgust*.

And
thanks to all the skiing, even though I was religious about sunblock and
kept my face covered with a bandana most of the time, I have a lovely patch
of cold sores (I will always be vulnerable to this from sun poisoning 19
years ago) on my chin/cheek, just in time for family portraits on Wednesday,
when it should be nice and scabby and dark instead of bubbly, tingly, and
swollen! LOVELY. Hate my new haircut and have a monster face, that'll be
really nice for our first pictures as a family in 8 years! I have already
postponed it once, maybe I should just cancel it this time. FOR GOOD!!!
Grrrrrrrr!!!

Mmmmm. I always liked an occasional root beer but I haven't had one in a
whole year. I LOVE that ISI soda siphon!!

cancel the photo shoot today for sure, I can hardly talk or open my mouth or
even sip the coffe I am drinking at this moment (which does make it easier
to stick to starvation calories, I must say) and there is no way to touch up
disfigurement, which is what this is...YEEECH! MURPHY, go AWAY!

Down another half pound, which isn't much but it pleases me to no end, as it
appears that my upward trend has turned into a downward trend again, yahoo!
And now for why I am celebrating: I have my horoscope set up on my home
page, and I get a different one emailed to me daily -- just for fun. Today
they both said it was my lucky day. Looks like they were right!
-
The
Vail Daily, our biggest local newspaper, is printing my story tomorrow,
complete with pictures! The new editor called me personally!!! Just when I
had give up on the press release going anywhere! I got a chance to talk to
the editor about my high country cooking column, while we were talking
- so maybe they will pick up my column, too - wouldn't that be nice!!!
-
Then
the webmaster of Low Carb Luxury emailed me to request a copy of my cookbook
for review - this could be IT!!!! She said she loves my "kicky"
site and is linking to me right away. Apparently she got a bunch of emails
from different people requesting a review!!! No guarantees on the review, it
will be impartial, but I am confident that it will be good. Whoo Hoooooooo!!!
I am really on my way now....

Italian food!! Homemade marinara sauce + burger, over 1 cup Keto pasta. Side
salad with romaine, red papper, and Casear dressing. 8 oz. Chardonnay. I
laughed to DH as I was doing dishes that in the "old days" I could
never have leapt up and started cleaning up right away, I would have been
too full. (From all the garlic bread, was his comeback, but no, from the
heavy pasta mostly, I think.)

EXERCISE:
a full workout with weights plus 400 ab crunches, 150 of them w/ weights in
fetal position, "50 regular", and 200 oblique. My full workout
consists of: (using 5 pound weights) 100 inner thigh lifts, each leg, 50
butterfly lifts (ouch), 2 sets of 50 french presses (overhead arm extensions
for the old arm wattles) and 50 regular curls, each arm. This works on all
my problem areas and is a complement to the power-walking I should be doing
(and will be doing, because I am going after my treadmill next week! Even
though sales are still somewhat slower than I expected, I am taking my first
paycheck and spending it on myself, like I vowed! :) IT IS TIME. My one year
anniversary fast approaches and my Bday too, and I DESERVE THIS.)

Down another whole pound! :~) Just 1.5 to go and I will have lost all that
mysterious gain back and my flasher will even be true once again. Now, if my
face would just heal up.... I did find something interesting - if you suffer
from cold sores, listen up. If not, move on! At WalMart I found a tiny
little bitty tube of something called Abreve (docosonol). It was almost $15
and so small you could blink and lose it, but it sems to have actually
stopped the additional spreading area in its' tracks. It isn't helping the
huge patch of full-fledged scabs, but if you get this stuff on before it
actually swells, while still at the tingle, it seems to really help and be
worth the $. This coming from the world's cheapest cold sore sufferer....

good, but so do the ones from aspen ice cream and They NEVER GAVE ME THIS
KIND OF CRAVINGS. I am not too upset, given the numbers it is easy to see
how I could gain ... the timing sort of sucks since I STILL plan to eat well
and make margaritas for the big game later on... GO RAVENS. (I still haven't
